About Us

Starting with our humble beginnings in a small Austin, Texas apartment amidst a global pandemic, Splash was born. Our founder and creator began revamping forgotten garments in her closet, before expanding to source preloved inventory when strict stay-at-home orders were in place across the nation. With custom requests pouring in, it became apparent that many others shared a similar desire for unique, sustainable clothing options.

In light of the fact that the fashion industry is responsible for roughly 10% of global carbon emissions annually, with fast fashion brands being the biggest contributors due to their mass overproduction of cheap, disposable garments, sustainability is a key focus for Splash. Fast fashion clothing is often made of synthetic fibers, chemicals, and microplastics that can take more than 200 years to decompose naturally. One of the most effective sustainable practices to reduce our carbon footprint is to use existing garments since 14 million tons of clothing are incinerated each year. Upcycling involves creating new pieces from existing materials and requires less water, fewer chemicals, and saves perfectly good garments from ending up in landfills.

Our mission at Splash is to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces using pre-existing materials, to decrease the negative environmental impacts caused by the fast fashion industry. Our made-to-order pieces are created based on demand, preventing overproduction and unnecessary waste. We strive to use only recyclable and compostable materials for our production and packaging to ensure that we are minimizing our impact on the environment.
